terminaLED® 3050 - Distribution Box for High Power LEDs connected in Series or in Parallel

When making series connection of LED spots, there are nowadays used pre-assembled cables with LED plug connectors and distributors. This implies, however, one disadvantage: the number of plug and socket connectors and distributors to be used as well as conductor lengths are to be defined in advance. In the case of modifications, components do not fit any longer, further modifications or re-orders often become necessary, material that can no longer be used may be left.

The distribution box series terminaLED® S or P used with a two-core conductor solves that problem. Conductors are contacted quickly and easily by insulation displacement connection (IDC) without special tools. So stripping of wire ends is no longer necessary, conductor length is adapted on site.

Usually there are used constant current drivers (for series connections) or constant voltage drivers (for parallel connections) to power LED lights.In case that several LEDs are powered by just one supplier in series connection, connection is made from the supplier to the first Y-distribution box, from there to the LED, back to the first box and then on to the next LED. At the end of that chain there is formed a loop in order to make series connection. In case that several LEDs are powered by just one supplier in parallel connection, connection is made from the supplier to the first Y-distribution box, from there to the LED, then to the next box and on to the next LED. Each distribution box is provided with a plus and a minus pole for one LED light.The specified connection may be used in diverse applications, above all in small power devices such as recessed spotlights and effect lighting. Their fields of application are f.i. illumination of showcases and displays, of furniture and trade show booths as well as of advertising spaces.That distribution box may also be part of a luminaire or a control gear box.
